Last week I was playing with a pattern I had in my head and I ended up with something not quite what I was looking for, but I also ended up with a new weave. Well, two weaves actually and a variant, but we’ll get to that later.
I’ve never been good at naming things so I asked for some suggestions here at the shop and didn’t get anything, so now I come to you. Here are a few pictures of it first. (click on the picture for larger version)
And a quick one of the variant.
So, I need a name for this and I am asking for your help, and to make it fun I’ll make it a give away.
Here are the details:
Leave a comment here with your suggestion.
One suggestion per comment.
Leave as many comments as you like.
Next Friday, (July 30th) I will pick the name I like best.
If I pick your suggestion, I will send you a kit with instructions to make your own. (so be sure to leave a way for me to contact you)
It’s just that simple.
Remember, It’s in the Maille!

Twisted Helm
The first version reminds me of Helm but the connectors aren’t parallel, they are to the right… so My first suggestion is Realm… R for right and e(a)lm for Helm…
Working on the variant.
The variant appears like the first weave with the connectors alternating… I like the name Kingdom. Because a King rules over his Realm (see first suggestion) and his Kingdom…
Yes Curt, you would be the King… Tania would be the Queen… Mighten I be the Jester, Your Highness?
To me it kinda looks more like Rhinos Snorting Drano so I would call it Drunk Rhinos since the rings are alternating different ways. Okay, I know that is kinda lame but I tried. Love it either way Curt.
Acute Helm, as the small rings are at a 45 degree acute angle to the way the rings usually are in a helm weave.
Cartwheel
Celtic Time
I don’t know a THING about chainmaille but when I saw that first one I thought “o-zone”. It’s very unique!
Sidewinder
Zig Zag Helm’s Weave or Diagonal Lines Helm’s Weave or Slanted direction weave
Hope this one will have a kit and instructions….I love it, LOVE IT, you the man Curt
I’m still pretty new at chainmaille, but it looks very noble to me so I would say something like “Angled Nobility”. Too corny?
The first thing that comes to my mind is Parallel Askew.
Whatever you decide to call it, I LIKE it!
Helm’s Gate
On the bias
Zig Zag
(I thought there was one with this name already, but I can’t find it on the MAIL site)
Lasso’d Rhinos
(it looks kinda like RSD but has some extra’s holding on to it)
Definitely a play on Helm Chain. How about Diagonal Helm
okay, last one – for the variant
it’s looks like a zig zag to me – and zig zags were the egyptian hieroglyph for water so…
hydroglyph
crossed destinies
Dragon’s Dilemma
Lovers prison
Sin’s Chain
(it has a sin curve in a few of the pictures)
Last one
endless wave
Love the colored version. I would call it crossed realm.
Jacob’s Ladder
Crossed wires…
Around the Bend…
They’re very wavy to me, so I followed Google around a bit to find a catchy name: “Wave Train” (a series of waves) for the original design and “Crested Wave” for the variant. When I look at the variant I seem to focus on that energy between the wee little rings, hence the crested part.
Am I over thinking? Maybe under wine-ing. Have to fill the glass and think some more. Fun!
Cheers,
Susan
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. There are some great ones here. As I mentioned in the post, I actually have 2 new weaves. I didn’t put a picture up of the other one, but one of the suggestions really stood out to me for this, so I think we will actually have 2 winners now.
Keep the suggestions coming, we still have some time left for this one.
“Tag You’re It”
the smaller rings remind me of an HTML end tag! Great weave, glad I found your site!
Hi…love the design…especially the round multi color and square shiny rings …why don’t you call it the double circle square weave…the oringinal with all round rings could be called double circlet weave because it reminds me off crowns…and crowns were sometimes described as circlets. What ever you name it…it is a great design.
How about “WHOOSH”? The design has a great flow; it reminds me of the “S” turns when one skis “whoosh-and-schuss” down a mountainside. Alternate name: “Colorado River”. Both names would be in keeping with your location as well.
Encircled Gates
Lizard Tail
Hi Curt.
Good luck. I will be checking to see what the new name is.
Love the design!!!!! Especially Argentium and Niobium!! EXCELLENT!!! It makes think of Stairway to Heaven, so, how about ‘Double Stairway to Heaven’? Win or lose, I want it!!! Please put me on the list for an order when you are ready with it. Did you think of maybe using the square rings? I know it won’t be as shinny, which is part of the charm, but squares are new, easy to use, and cool, besides, I like them.
Hello.
Didn’t see that you already had the same idea, use the squares. How about ‘Rolling Circles’? Congrats and thanks for the new great design!
Hi
Another thought, how about Spiral Staircase?
Hi all.
Can’t stop thinking about it….I love it soooooo much.
Roller Coaster
Love it, especially with the Niobium. Looks like parallel with barrels in center…how about Barrell Loops.
Since it looks like helm chain and the helm steers the ship, how about a ship theme? A play on the last line from Star Trek: Undiscovered Country. “Second Star To The Left”. A tad long I know.
Or “Straight On ‘Til Morning”
For the variation, “Misdirected”.
Or “Miss Directional”.
beautiful bracelet,i am new to chain-maille,but would love to learn how to make this one.
reminds me of a rainbow with all the colors
Hi all.
Just got up and I still love it and was still on my mind! They look like wheels in the niobium, so how about Wheels in Motion?
Morning all.
OK last one…..Keep on Wheelin. It reminds me of truck wheels.
Thanks for the opportunity and fun. Good luck to all.
Morning everybody. No more entries. I will post the new name shortly.
A big thank you to all who participated.
